Happy Accidents on the Bench

This necklace represents the joyful result that came from a somewhat painful lesson. I had been hanging on to the bottom stone for a long while. It was part of a parcel of stones I bought, and I didn’t know what it was, and frankly, I didn’t even really like it. But with a giant mess on my bench, I was pushing things around and this garnet pyramid landed next to it. Suddenly the deep reds popped out of what had been a muddy mix of red-brown-blue, and I saw it in a whole new light.

This kind of scenario is a reminder that I often need to give myself, which is to play around and be open to seeing things in a new way. Sometimes we get so stuck in the way we do things it’s hard to loosen up. Does life ever give you these kinds of reminders?
